The jilted lover threatens her ex

Sketchbook

Here's the grayscale version that will run in the PRESS. Below is a composite of the five sketchbook pages that went into the cartoon, and a picture I took of myself shooting myself in the head with a highlighter in order to visualize what taking a hostage might look like.

Still running

So here it was, January 3- Caucus Day, but EVERY Thursday is deadline day so I HAD to email SOMETHING in. Who knows at 2:30 in the afternoon what will be decided at 9 at night? I have a feeling that Edwards and McCain will surprise everyone, but I threw Obama in front just because he tall. Notice Mike Bloomberg lurking over his shoulder!

(Well, whddyaknow? I got lucky when I put Obama front and center! Lucky pick)

This was a lot of work, drawing all these caricatures. I think that I did the worst job on Mitt Romney because he's so dang bland. Here is a legend to help you tell who's who, in case you're not a political junkie like me, or in case my caricatures are so bad that you can't recognize them.

2008 presidential candidates;
  1. Sen. Hillary Clinton (NY, Democrat)
  2. Sen. John McCain (AZ, Republican)
  3. Former Sen. John Edwards (SC, D)
  4. Sen. Barack Obama (Il, D)
  5. Mayor Michael Bloomberg (NY, Independent)
  6. Gov. Mike Huckabee (AR, R)
  7. Former Gov. Mitt Romney (MA, R)

Fear of vermin can be paralyzing

I'm so angry with Reid and Pelosi that I can hardly see straight. Why did they cave in on the omnibus bill like they did? Another $70 billion on the war Bush lied us into. They'd better put impeachment back on the table in the new year or I may re-register to the Green party or at least as an independent or something.

On the other hand, I'm pretty proud of my drawing. Funny frightened donkey, my G.W. Bush is finally coming along... but it is a little weird that last week I used Suess and this week I used Disney- hope I don't get into a rut of using other people's cartoon characters.

The lazy babysitter

This one was really complicated. Each flame is a different layer in PhotoShop. I feel like I didn't finish the donkey well enough. Once again I stole from myself- Bush is from an earlier cartoon, although I tweaked his face a little in PhotoShop. It took forever to find a chair that I liked. Daryl Cagle is not just a cartoonist, but a syndicate editor and he complains about aspiring cartoonists who send him works with lots of photos or clipart included. All these things had me feeling pretty bad about this cartoon, but I got an email from a former student who went to Georgetown and now works on K street in DC and she told me tha tshe thought it was so funny that she shared it with a bunch of her friends. Maybe it is the thought that counts after all.
